Do You Want to Have a Longer Life?

Fruits and vegetables which have a green and orange color are full of alpha-carotene. According to the latest studies, alpha-carotene is able to lower the risk of cancers, Alzheimer's, heart disease and high blood levels due to the antioxidants contained in them. The latter can effectively fight free radicals. These are the molecules that harm DNA, as well as fats and proteins in cells. Antioxidants reduce the main causes of death.

A recent 14 year study, found in the Archives of Internal Medicine, demonstrates the link between mortality in 15,318 adults aged 20 and older and alpha-carotene levels in blood. People with higher alpha-carotene levels showed a 39% lower risk of having cardiovascular disease, cancer, and similar diseases.

It was also demonstrated that dark green and yellow-orange vegetables can help in treating patients with lung cancer. Alpha-carotene is contained in pumpkin, carrots, carrot juice, vegetable soup, vegetable juice, collard greens, and tangerines.

Beta-carotenes and alpha counterparts belong to the carotenoid family and both should be added to a healthy diet. Even though beta-carotenes are not so powerful in fighting cancer, they are very rich in vitamin A.

So, don't ignore eating fruits and vegetables and you will stay healthy!
